About the Track:

“The fun begins where the asphalt ends”, this is the doctrine of the 30 million dirt track fans. DIRT Motor Sports Inc., the premier sanctioning body and promoter of professional dirt track racing in the United States has relocated its corporate and operational headquarters to Concord, North Carolina, the heart of the auto racing industry just one hour from Gaffney, South Carolina and the CHEROKEE SUPER SPEEDWAY. This year is the 50th anniversary season of racing and promises to be the best year ever. In the words of the current owner, “this is an old track with a new heart”. The track has been shortened from the “long” ½ mile back to the original 3/8’s and promises to bring back the “more racey” feeling in all 7 divisions as well as the special racing programs planned to add to the excitement of this 50th season. The shortening has created an additional pit parking area that will offer superior viewing at turns 1 & 2 and will allow for the big rig parking we were missing. Just a few of the improvements made this winter are: 20 new high-line poles with all new wiring and television quality lighting around the track and infield, new and expanded sound system, a nice new scoreboard and a new City Late Model Victory Lane, totally renovated and upgraded restrooms in the grandstands and the infield, remodeled offices and tower and last but not least, new menus and equipment in the two popular concessions stands. With the added parking areas the attendance capacity is now estimated at 5,000 happy fans. This billion dollar industry has nothing but sunny skies ahead of it, a growing fan base of younger demographics, new divisions of racing that are to numerous to list here and the added allure of televised racing on The Speed Channel, ESPN, Turner South, Sports South, The Outdoor Channel and internet streaming video etc. truly a “business with an upside as big as your dreams”. And most of all this is an opportunity to own a piece of INCOME GENERATING AMERICANA, “It’s like a drive-in restaurant on route 66.”
